E-learning course on the basic principles of oncogenomics for physicians (all specialties), biologists and pharmacists.
The course was developed within the CAN.HEAL (Building the EU Cancer and Public Health Genomics platform) project, funded by the European Commission (www.canheal.eu).
The overall aim of CAN.HEAL is to integrate cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention interventions that make use of genomic information and to promote their coordinated adoption in Europe. To this end, updating the knowledge base of healthcare professionals is of crucial importance.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND TEACHING METHOD
The course aims to improve the knowledge and attitude of healthcare professionals regarding the basic principles of genetics and the main clinical applications of genomic technologies in cancer prevention and treatment.
The training objectives were identified through a systematic literature review and a Delphi consensus by an international panel of experts.
The teaching methodology is inspired by the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach.
The training course alternates video tutorials by the lecturers,
questionnaires and background materials.
